Ian’s London Marathon Fundraising
Ian Fryer
My Story
After 11 failed attempts to get into London via the ballot, this year the odds were in my favour (I think). I haven't been a regular runner for a few years but this is a bucketlist item so I'm back out denting pavements.
When it came to a charity to fundraise for I was considering a few of the big options and then a friend suggested one that helped them when they were going through a difficult time and I couldn't think of a better way to pay back people who helped someone you care about. So APP are my choice and I'll be proudly wearing purple on the day.
The freedom of a ballot place is that I can raise any amount but the charity request the 2k number. Any amount you can give is fantastic and it'll keep me going when I really don't want to be out training.
Action on Postpartum Psychosis (APP) are the national charity supporting and advocating for mums and families affected by postpartum psychosis (PP) - a severe but treatable mental illness that begins in the days and weeks after giving birth and affects 1400 new mums in the UK each year.
APP offers information and peer support, facilitates ground breaking research, raises awareness and campaigns for improved services.
Their life changing, life saving peer support network helps women and families affected by postpartum psychosis feel understood, supported and less isolated.
