My Story

About us

In 2026, I will be taking on the London Marathon in aid of Lawrence Nurses — a charity very close to my heart and my family.

In 2011, my Mum, Jane Phillips MBE, sadly passed away after a battle with cancer. She was one of the driving forces behind the creation of the Lawrence Nurses and, in her final days, was cared for by the very team she helped to establish. Their compassion, professionalism, and kindness left a lasting impact on all of us.

In April, I will be running in memory of Peter “Jock” Hutchison, who was so wonderfully cared for by the Lawrence Nurses before he sadly passed away in December 2023.

Jock was much loved in Chipping Norton – a wonderful husband, Dad, Poppa, and a true friend to so many. His humour, warmth, and sporting talent left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

I was fortunate enough to know Jock since my days as a junior golfer at Chipping Norton Golf Club, and I will always be grateful for the time we spent together over the years. It is an honour to run in his memory and in support of the incredible nurses who cared for him so compassionately.

Jock’s family, like ours, were deeply grateful for the care and support provided by Lawrence Nurses during his final weeks. Their dedication makes an immeasurable difference to local families during the hardest of times.

This will be my fourth marathon, and I’m determined to make every mile count — for Jock, for Jane, and for all those who benefit from this incredible charity.

Any donation, big or small, will be gratefully received and will go directly toward helping Lawrence Nurses continue their vital work in our community.

On a personal note, all of this will be driving me on as I aim to achieve a 3-hour 10-minute finish time — but more importantly, to honour two people who meant so much.

Thank you so much for your support,
Danny Phillips
