My Story
Many of you will know that Rachel has recently qualified as a midwife. As the final dissertation in her degree, Rachel chose to write about the challenges facing families with Postpartum Psychosis (PP). With the level of investigation required to create this academic work, Rachel found that PP was an area of Postpartum care that was terribly overlooked.
Rachel wanted to run the London Marathon for APP, however, she has a persistent back injury, and I, having talked to Rachel extensively about PP, am proud to step in and offer my full support for the amazing charity that is APP.
APP
Action on Postpartum Psychosis (APP) is the national charity supporting and advocating for mums and families affected by postpartum psychosis (PP) - a severe but treatable mental illness that begins in the days and weeks after giving birth and affects 1400 new mums in the UK each year.
APP offers information and peer support, facilitates groundbreaking research, raises awareness and campaigns for improved services.
Their life-changing, life-saving peer support network helps women and families affected by postpartum psychosis feel understood, supported and less isolated.
