Running for Rory, Running for Autism
Matthew Baxter
My Story
This April, I’ll be taking on the London Marathon in support of Ambitious about Autism, a charity that’s close to our hearts. Our son Rory is autistic, and every mile I run will be for him and for all the young people like him who deserve the right support to thrive. Ambitious about Autism works to create a world where autistic children and young people can be themselves and realise their full potential. They provide education, employment opportunities, and vital advocacy — helping families navigate challenges and giving autistic voices the platform they deserve.
Running 26.2 miles is no small feat, but it’s nothing compared to the everyday hurdles autistic children and their families overcome. The funds raised will go directly towards programmes that make a real difference — from specialist schools and resources to campaigns that build understanding and inclusion. Rory inspires us every day with his courage, curiosity, and joy, and this run is a way to honour that — to help build a future where every autistic person has the same chance to shine.
