My Story
In April I’ll be running the London Marathon to raise money for Action on Postpartum Psychosis, a cause that’s very personal to me.
When Murray was born, I experienced postpartum psychosis — a severe but treatable mental health illness affecting 1 in 1000 mums. It was the most frightening and challenging thing I have experienced.
I was incredibly lucky to receive urgent care in the Mother and Baby Unit at St John’s, where Murray could stay with me and Robyn could visit every day. After we came home, recovery was still tough, but APP were there with understanding, compassion and vital support, alongside the amazing staff at the MBU.
Because of support like this, families going through postpartum psychosis don’t have to face it alone.
Running the marathon now feels like a small way to give back and help raise awareness so other families can get the same support when they need it most.
If you’d like to donate or learn more about APP, the link is below. There is no pressure to sponsor me but would love any song recommendation for my training playlist to get me through the miles.
Every share, message, donation or bit of encouragement really does make a difference.
